DII Dynasties Topic

The first Dynasty rankings were done in May, 2006. Of the 41 teams on that first list, 14 are still present.
Kudos to Bemidji St. and Augustana. They've never the Top 10.
#41 Eckerd has an interesting history. They've played in the PIT in 8 of the past 10 seasons.

Al, Augustana (SD) has been to the big dance 20 straight seasons. Are there any others with a string like that. That to me would be considered the ultimate dynasty. Just curious if that had any bearing on the rankings.
7/30/2007 8:07 PM
That's quite an accomplishment, coachjoyner! Congratulations!!
However it doesn't have a bearing on my rankings, which are based on the most recent 5 seasons. I'm sure, if I went back 10-20 seasons, Augustana would be #1.
Another impressive string is by Bemidji St. In the past 8 seasons, they have 2 championships (back to back under different coaches); 2 runners-up; and a Final Four.
7/31/2007 4:13 AM
Al, I don't think we are #1, but maybe #3. We will get in back in a year or so.

I love this thread, glad to see E. New Mexico made the list. Not to mention, congrats al on the Nat'l Championship!!!
2/16/2008 2:54 PM
Thanks! It was good year for your state as both E. New Mexico and W. New Mexico made the list.
They're in different conferences. That'd be a natural non-conference rivalry.
Florida did well, too, adding N. Florida, Florida Gulf Coast and Florida Southern. They join returnees Florida Tech and W. Florida

I can't seem to get USC Aiken over the hump into elite category.

8 of the top 9 have at least one Final Four in the past 5 seasons. That's your ticket to the top 10.
2/17/2008 8:05 PM
Wow! I'm shocked (and honored) to be #1 al! Thanks for doing this! Congrats on that NC!
