You should have played defense too. If the other team has the ball, everyone is a defender, and forwards must be able to play defense as well. So basically, what you are telling everyone, is that you weren't in shape.

No. What I am saying is I was playing my position. I would play up near the center line to keep the defense honest. Maybe when you play soccer, everyone just runs in a big bunch, follows the ball, and ignores their position. So that would put you in the 6-10 yo age group.

An average person walks 6-7 km per hour. So soccer players are more seditary than that.

That's like saying as a defensive back, I won't cross the mid-field line so I can help protect my goal. THAT is strategy for 8-9 year-olds.

See, you can run faster w/o the ball than dribbling with it. That's why defenders are in the other team's penalty box on corner kicks. Because they are in shape and can run back and defend.

What good does it do you to stand near the center line when all the other team's defenders are up past it? One pass to you and you're offside. Are you sure you played soccer past 4th grade?

When defending, you WANT all 11 teammates in the box, giving you a 10% advantage (11 players vs. 10. 11/10 = 110%). By standing at midfield, you're hurting your team. Only in desperation does the losing team bring its keeper forward, making it 11 on 11 in their attacking area. Just like a hockey team pulling its goalie and having an extra attacker.

Learn the game before you post. Go watch a college or professional match and see how it's really done.

I guess it doesn't help that you listed in your profile that your favorite college is Star Fleet Academy. I had to Google it. Is this Star Trek? Wow.

A comfortable walk on a treadmill for me is 4 miles an hour and I am out of shape.

Wait.... the MLS isn't major league soccer. They only get the crap players after the EPL and others have their fill. I sit corrected.
