SDL Season 3 Draft Comments and Evals Topic

I see no evals and the fourth round is virtually done.  Just wondering if this is going to be an actual eval thread or not.
12/21/2015 1:30 PM
you are correct. honestly, just a perfect storm of trying to keep up the commish tasks, the holidays, etc...just cant carve out eval time. maybe next week i will manage a quick run thru of all the rosters
12/26/2015 4:22 PM
I am willing to do my best at an amateur eval once the league starts and I can view everyone's full roster
12/29/2015 3:49 PM
Alright here is my first round of Evals ever. This took a lot longer than I thought I will do more tomorrow night.

P.S All evals are my opinions only it is completely possible I am wrong about everything I say once the season starts up....

ATLANTIC DIVISION

Slymonium’s CurryCo.

Starting 5: 96-97 Mookie Blaylock, 14-15 Stephen Curry, 82-83 Magic Johnson, 02-03 Wallace, 91-92 David Robinson

Bench: 14-15 Dwight Howard, 13-14 Ed Davis, 14-15 Kevin Durant, 12-13 Anderson Varejao, 92-93 Jim Les, 90-91 Scott Williams, 13-14 Jannero Pargo

Eval: Good combination of 3s and Off rebounds here. Wallace and Robinson will clog up the paint. Overall Defense is pretty decent as well. A balanced and strong team. You might have to watch out for turnovers starting 3 players who are all technically meant to be point guards.

Ysw128’s Double your fun

Starting 5: 80-81 Maurice cheeks, 08-09 Dwyane Wade, 13-14 Andre Iguodala, 77-78 Bill Walton, 78-79 Moses Malone

Bench: 83-84 Magic Johnson, 71-72 Clifford Ray, 90-91 Mark Price, 09-10 Greg Oden, 11-12 Terrence Williams, 82-83 Mark, Radford, 92-93 John Crotty

Eval:
Decent overall defense, rebounds, and assist numbers. Only concern I have is your usage numbers when Wade is on the floor. His crazy high usage numbers makes it hard not to have too much usage. But that’s just my opinion.

Uptowngbv’s Ragged Standard

Starting 5: 74-75 Moses Malone, 93-94 Dennis Rodman, 13-14 LeBron James, 08-09 Jason Kidd, 81-82 Julius Erving

Bench: 14-15 Andrew Bogut, 13-14 Manu Ginobili, 02-03 Tayshaun Prince, 00-01 Eduardo Najera, 14-15 Kendall Marshall, 73-74 Kermit Washington, 97-98 Mario Bennett

Eval: Beware the usage penalty. That particular rodman being under 10 may cause that, also anytime you don’t have Erving, James, and rodman at the floor at once your usage numbers are gonna be a problem (This based on my understanding of the usage penalty). Assist numbers are kinda low. They won’t hurt ya, but they wont help ya either. I predict your going to have a lower FG% than you’d like BUT you have two great Off rebounders so hopefully that will help to balance that out.

98average’s Specific Specials

Starting 5: 72-73 Wilt Chamberlain, 95-96 Michael Jordan, 91-92 Horace Grant , 11-12 Dwight Howard , 98-99 Jason Kidd

Bench: 04-05 Baron Davis, 14-15 Matt Bonner, 11-12 Shawne Williams, 13-14 Steve Novak, 05-06 Andrew Bynum, 12-13 James Jones, 93-94 Anthony Cook

Eval: So, I hear you like rebounds. That’s a good thing because you’re going to need them. Sub par assist numbers + A relatively high usage, poor shooting kidd + a weak bench = my prediction of a poor FG%. Defense will be great though as long as the starters on the floor.

Poddy’s The Admiral Bird

Starting 5: 90-91 David Robinson, 01-02 Elton Brand, 86-87 Larry Bird, 96-97 John Stockton, 84-85 Paul Pressey

Bench: 81-82 Brian Taylor, 13-14 Andrei Kirilenko , 85-86 Johnny Moore , 14-15 Joey Dorsey, 87-88 Clemon Johnson, 69-70 Floyd Theard, 99-00 Eric Montross

Eval: Good News-Good Shooting numbers and good Ast%s means high offensive numbers. Bad news- Rebounds are low so you best not miss and the defense isn’t high enough to keep opponents from keeping up with you. I think you are going to have score high to beat the other team each day. Also, there are a lack of threes.

Milest’s The Yellow Team

Starting 5: 76-77 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, 13-14 Stephen Curry, 14-15 DeAndre Jordan, 90-91 Dennis Rodman, 11-12 Chris Paul

Bench: 81-82 Kurt Rambis, 10-11 Omer Asik, 13-14 Al Horford, 03-04 Charlie Ward, 96-97 Sam Cassell, 11-12 Terrence Williams, 87-88 Sedale Threatt

Eval: Not much negative to say about this team. Defense could stand to be higher and I personally would like more efficiency in my threes but other than that I think this is a very strong dangerous team. My favorite in this Division.

This is awesome sam! Love looking at all this info, appreciate the time and effort
12/30/2015 6:26 PM
Thanks for doing the evals, Sam! I hope you're right!!! But...  The Yellow Team shoots 39.6% from 3 with almost 500 makes... Buzzard Bay, on the other hand, is lacking in the 3 point efficiency thanks to Clyde Frazier & George Hill... Not trying to bust your balls or anything, lol.. Awesome job, I look forward to reading the Central Division &  Western Conference evals.. If you have the time.. Thanks, again

Central Division

Jcred 5’s Can’t wait for 15-16 draymond

Starting 5: 67-68 Wilt Chamberlain, 88-89 John Stockton, 13-14 Kevin Durant, 87-88 John Stockton, 95-96 Dennis Rodman

Bench: 12-13 Andre Drummond, 12-13 Thomas Robinson, 09-10 Steve Blake, 11-12 Stephen Curry, 74-75 Bill Bridges, 82-83 Kevin Porter, 94-95 Tracy Murray

Eval: Offensively this team is SCARY. 2 stocktons, Durant, and the best assisting Wilt. You are going to be scoring with ease. This is a double edged sword though. I think your defense leaves room for improvement. However you seemed to eliminate the biggest weakness in ast teams (rebounds) by taking Rodman and Drummond. Not that you’ll need them with your field goal percentage.

Jhsukow’s Eye 2 eye

Starting 5: 90-91 Magic Johnson, 80-81 Artis Gilmore, 11-12 Tyson Chandler, 90-91 Charles Barkley, 13-14 Chris Paul

Bench: 11-12 Brandon Rush, 07-08 J.R. Smith, 05-06 Earl Watson, 10-11 Brian Cardinal, 95-96 Brad Lohaus, 10-11 Joel Przybilla, 13-14 Drew Gooden

Eval: I see this as a great attempt at balance. Good rebounds, passing, and shooting %; however, this team lacks good defense and I see that being it’s downfall.

BDS9992’s Hey Joe

Starting 5: 68-69 Wilt Chamberlain, 95-96 John Stockton, 14-15 Klay Thompson, 12-13 Chris Paul, 12-13 Larry Sanders

Bench: 84-85 Bill Walton, 13-14 Eric Bledsoe, 08-09 Manu Ginobili, 05-06 Earl Watson, 12-13 Samuel Dalembert, 85-86 Derek Smith, 95-96 Brooks Thompson

Eval: Good passing and good overall defense. I like everything on this team except Klay Thompson. He has good def and rains threes, but he does almost nothing else. Because of him I think you are going to be hurting for rebounds in this league.

Carbonjones’s King of Kings

Starting 5: 71-72 Wilt Chamberlain, 88-89 Michael Jordan, 14-15 Kyle Korver, 11-12 LeBron James, 96-97 Dennis Rodman

Bench: 11-12 James Harden, 84-85 John Stockton, 09-10 Greg Oden, 13-14 James Jones, 90-91 Corey Gaines, 12-13 Jeremy Evans, 14-15 Luigi Datome

Eval: I appreciate what was attempted here. A Jordan James duo is indeed a scary thought, but a lack of assists will hurt your FG%. Not only that your low minutes means fatigue will be a factor and when Jordan and/or James is not on the court you’re going to get hit by the usage penalty

Scudmissle’s Purple Road Crew

Starting 5: 91-92 Dennis Rodman, 95-96 Anfernee Hardaway, 96-97 Karl Malone, 77-78 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, 96-97 Jason Kidd

Bench: 03-04 Jamaal Tinsley, 14-15 Hassan Whiteside, 80-81 Edgar Jones, 05-06 Earl Watson, 10-11 Daequan Cook, 88-89 Roy Tarpley, 91-92 Brian Shaw

Eval: Pretty good team here. My favorite thing about this team is the strength of the bench Tinsley and whiteside are great. Good sound all around defense too. My main concern is your fatigue levels with only 192,000 minutes.

DH555’s StiltShooters

Starting 5: 66-67 Wilt Chamberlain, 09-10 Dwight Howard, 03-04 Donyell Marshall, 07-08 Manu Ginobili, 97-98 John Stockton

Bench: 94-95 Clyde Drexler, 10-11 Vladimir Radmanovic, 05-06 Carlos Boozer, 92-93 Jim Les, 09-10 Steve Blake, 96-97 Kenny Smith, 12-13 Jared Jeffries

Eval: So its hard for me to say anything negative with a team with 66-67 wilt on it, but not only do you have him you got howard and marshall. Your defense rebounds are gonna be really good. If I have to pick a negative I would have to pick on your PGs and your high turnover rate. Very Strong team though, will struggle against teams with high scoring guards I think, my close favorite in the division

I say worse that I personally like lol I don't like shooting less than 40 from the 3, but you probably will shoot that once the season starts, I was attempting to nit pick

Midwest Division

Jt7King’s Creeps

Starting 5: 89-90 Michael Jordan, 94-95 Scottie Pippen, 00-01 Shaquille O'Neal, 86-87 Derek Harper, 09-10 Marcus Camby

Bench: 03-04 Antonio Daniels, 06-07 Reggie Evans, 09-10 Ryan Anderson, 14-15 Enes Kanter, 14-15 Thomas Robinson, 97-98 Vernon Maxwell, 97-98 Loy Vaught

Eval: Well Balanced team in all areas. There is but one problem I have with this team. While your starters are all out on the court you defense is astounding, however you have way to much usage. When your bench comes out the usage problem should go away but then you will lose that amazing defense.

Slymonium’s AssistThis

Starting 5: 90-91 John Stockton, 89-90 Magic Johnson, 94-95 John Stockton, 92-93 Charles Barkley, 70-71 Tom Boerwinkle

Bench: 09-10 Chris Paul, 80-81 Magic Johnson, 83-84 Earl Cureton, 95-96 Chris Webber, 06-07 Michael Olowokandi, 13-14 Chris Copeland06-07 Jared Reiner

Eval: So you went with the stereo-typical Passing team. Go big or go home right? Well on offense you will be fine but on defense I see you struggling and a lack of rebounds will probably really hurt ya

Milest’s Buzzard Bay Christmas Ticks

Starting 5: 69-70 Walt Frazier, 10-11 Dwight Howard, 05-06 Ben Wallace, 14-15 Chris Paul, 93-94 Horace Grant

Bench: 14-15 George Hill, 11-12 Kenneth Faried, 07-08 Stromile Swift, 96-97 Steve Nash, 95-96 Chris Gatling, 69-70 Wilt Chamberlain, 86-87 Stuart Gray

Eval: This is a very nice balanced team. The defense is very good rebounding and the assist numbers are pretty good too. The only real problem I for see for this team is the lack of threes.

Roadhouse19’s Shining Stars

Starting 5: 63-64 Wilt Chamberlain, 81-82 Magic Johnson, 05-06 Andrei Kirilenko, 77-78 Don Buse, 76-77 Bill Walton

Bench: 74-75 Paul Westphal, 82-83 Bill Walton, 75-76 Jan Van Breda Kolff, 81-82 Edgar Jones, 75-76 Barry Clemens, 05-06 Ron Artest, 07-08 Stephane Lasme

Eval: This team is very similar to milest’s above team. The difference being while he has slightly better def, you have slightly better rebounding. A Lack of threes is a concern with this team as well.

Tstamp2’s stamp act of 2016

Starting 5: 72-73 Artis Gilmore, 09-10 LeBron James, 07-08 Chris Paul, 91-92 John Stockton, 94-95 Dennis Rodman

Bench: 12-13 Jose Calderon, 98-99 Dennis Rodman, 12-13 Anderson Varejao, 14-15 Tarik Black, 68-69 Cliff Hagan, 89-90 Micheal Williams, 90-91 Reggie Williams

Eval: At First glance this team looks really good, but your minutes are awfully low and I don’t approve of ever having anyone under 10 usage, Im looking at you 98-99 Rodman. Also, what might be you biggest Achilles heel is your turnover rate. Your going to lose the ball a lot. I feel you may start off strong if luck favors you but begin a mighty downfall as the season progresses.

Bds9992’s Judo

Starting 5: 12-13 Kevin Durant, 70-71 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, 11-12 Andre Iguodala, 97-98 Charlie Ward, 08-09 Marcus Camby

Bench: 14-15 Rudy Gobert, 04-05 Beno Udrih, 07-08 Jason Kidd, 85-86 Derek Smith, 03-04 Jonathan Bender, 96-97 John Crotty, 13-14 Brook Lopez

Eval: Kevin Durant and Kareem are scary offensively. They will be lighting it up. All your numbers and defense are pretty good but I think they aren’t good enough for this league, but they are good enough for me to be completely wrong.
1/1/2016 6:58 PM
I'm not sure that I agree with you about Milest having better defense than me Sam.  My cumulative defensive rating is 86.  81-82 Magic is my worst defender and his d rating is 73.
1/1/2016 11:31 PM
Hey guys sorry I can't finish evals till monday night.
And roadhouse you very well may be right, actually your bench has the better defense definitely

Pacific Division

Hardened’s James James

Starting 5: 02-03 Kevin Garnett, 10-11 LeBron James, 05-06 Chauncey Billups
07-08 Marcus Camby, 10-11 Joakim Noah

Bench: 14-15 Lebron James, 06-07 Shaquille O'Neal, 75-76 Swen Nater, 93-94 Greg Kite, 62-63 Howie Jolliff, 07-08 Kenny Thomas, 06-07 Michael Ruffin

Eval: I like everything you are trying with to do with this team, it has a good balance, and I WONDERFUL bench with Shaq and Lebron. I think those two are great with what you’re doing. However, some flaws I see is that with Billups, Garnett, and Camby having lowish EFG and your ORBs percentages being relatively low I think some teams are going to rebound you. On a side note I have noticed that KG season seems to always under achieve for me.

Jkaye24’s KAJed

Starting 5: 71-72 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, 84-85 Larry Bird, 06-07 Shawn Marion 09-10 Jason Kidd, 12-13 Tyson Chandler

Bench: 11-12 Dominic McGuire, 11-12 Manu Ginobili, 04-05 Anthony Carter, 04-05 Brian Skinner, 88-89 Sidney Lowe, 07-08 P.J. Brown, 11-12 Damion James

Eval: I love the efficient shooting of your starting 5, but your sub-par assist numbers are really going to hurt that efficiency, especially when your bench comes out.

Samuelyork93’s Louisville Wildcats (Brought to you by Jkaye24)

Starting 5: 65-66 Wilt Chamberlain, 08-09 Chris Paul, 89-90 John Stockton, 89-90 Dennis Rodman, 83-84 Bill Walton

Bench: 06-07 Donyell Marshall, 04-05 Al Jefferson, 05-06 Earl Watson, 76-77 Mike Bantom, 11-12 Jerryd Bayless, 97-98 Buck Williams, 79-80 Bill Walton

Eval: Can't go wrong with a Wilt although there are 6 out there with higher eFG than this one. That said, this is a pretty efficient version with a nice usage number. The Ast/Reb combo upfront is always great. A terrific Paul season to run the point, and interesting to pair with Stockton. Paul rebounds well enough to make it work as a backcourt duo. IT's not an all out assist team though with Rodman at the 3. An underrated Rodman season though - lower DReb than normal but decent on offense. Walton and Marshall are solid as 5th/6th best players. Not sure the team is a playoff team but some interesting pieces.

Ncmusician_7’s MJ & DH

Starting 5: 90-91 Michael Jordan, 01-02 Ben Wallace, 08-09 Dwight Howard, 90-91 Terry Porter,

Bench: 06-07 Brent Barry, 80-81 Pat Cummings, 97-98 Greg Anthony, 11-12 Brandan Wright, 82-83 Adrian Dantley, 06-07 Maceo Baston, 13-14 Jannero Pargo, 11-12 Danny Green

Eval: If you didn’t have to worry about assists and rebounds this team would be pretty good. Great EFG and decent Defense. Unfortunately you do need to worry about assists and rebounds. I see your fg% suffering and your lack of great rebounds might cause you some real headaches. I have a bad feeling about this one, good luck.

Copernicus’s Proxy-Gate

Starting 5: 99-00 Shaquille O'Neal, 08-09 LeBron James, 76-77 Bobby Jones, 04-05 Jason Terry, 92-93 Dennis Rodman

Bench: 00-01 Michael Smith, 74-75 Bill Walton, 12-13 Tobias Harris, 97-98 Cory Alexander, 09-10 Rodrigue Beaubois , 03-04 Nazr Mohamme, 07-08 Nick Fazekas

Eval: at first glance I thought this team might struggle, but with a more in depth analysis this team is pretty strong. Assist numbers are high enough not to hurt you and your rebounding numbers are pretty strong. I think you will have a pretty good season, but you might struggle against some of the more elite teams outside of this division.

666ace’s

Starting 5: 64-65 Jerry Lucas, 12-13 LeBron James, 79-80 Maurice Cheeks, 02-03 Shaquille O'Neal, 85-86 James Worthy

Bench: 13-14 Kawhi Leonard, 12-13 Rajon Rondo, 87-88 Manute Bol, 89-90 Maurice Cheeks, 14-15 Brandan Wright, 04-05 Alonzo Mourning, 10-11 Jeremy Lin

EvaL: I really like the bench of this team. Where most teams will have worse defense as the bench comes out, your defense will actually improve. And you got the most efficient James season, and I haven’t, to this date, seen a team with that lebron not do well. But Idk if your overall numbers are high enough to dominate but I see you breaking or at least getting close to breaking .500.
1/4/2016 6:27 PM
My Favorites in each division:

Atlantic: Yellow Team

Central: Stilt shooters (By a nose)

Mid-West: Creeps

Pacific: Proxy-gate
