I was actually thinking about locking down Arvydas early just because he's singular and what I would look for in front of him was less rare but I thought I had a shot at him in the late 5th

Yeah I’m sure I took him earlier than he normally goes but I figured he wouldn’t make it to my 5th Rd pick

Biggest Steals:
1) Anthony Davis
2) Elton Brand
3) Derek Harper

By ADP, Bill Russell was a bigger steal but I just don't think you can use him. I took Anthony Davis in the second round last year and had the best record in the league, so getting him in the third is pretty sweet. Ben will have to use the 99 SF season of his but that is a good one to use anyway. He has a beastly frontline. Derek Harper is a good ODL player. He is cheap, shoots threes, plays defense, doesn't turn it over and gets you an okay number of assists. He can basically fill the PG spot adequately without breaking the bank which isn't sexy but it is needed.

Biggest Reaches:
1) Nikola Jokic
2) Rajon Rondo
3) Jose Calderon

I like Jokic's season in a lot of formats. I am unsure about it in the ODL and extremely unsure about it at the top of the third round. Calderon is awesome, I often try and get him on my teams. But I think you are hoping he is there in the 5th or 6th, not in the 3rd. Rondo does a lot of things well, but having a PG who can't shoot threes when your other two picks are big men is a head scratcher. While we are talking about cjok's team, I just don't understand how you can pick KAT in the 2nd when your first pick is a center who can't defend PFs. KAT can't play the 3, so you are essentially punting on PF defense in every game.

Well, he rebounds four points worse, shoots four points worse and turns it over six points more. But you are right, that season isn't that bad and it would be unfair to call it unusable in this format. It's fine, although I wouldn't want to spend that high of a pick on it. Definitely not bad though.

I was going to take one of Russell's earlier seasons, which admittedly, put me in a bit of a salary crunch, but I thought the large amount of minutes with low usage, good defense, great rebounding and decent passing for a big man would make it worth it in the end.

Oh well, all worth the learning experience, I knew I would have trouble budgeting and who knows, maybe it will work out anyway.

Well, the $/Min/82 on that season is Russell's second cheapest and it is also his best season, so I would probably use that one. It is also his lowest usage season so his shooting will hurt you the least.

minutes and usage seem to be the two biggest cost valuators (and yet dont represent real value per se) that's why you have some of those old timey guys that no one ever drafts with 3300+ minutes and 30+ usage (but crap efg) costing north of 10m

I still think 63-64 Russell is the best version for my team, at least at this point. 44 minutes per game of his 12.2/32.4 Rebounding %'s are something I feel like I really need next to D-Rob, at the expense of a little more usage, less defense and losing some later round value.

You guys have done well in convincing me that I made a mistake in drafting him though.

I didn't mean to - he's solid and would be even better than that if this site were worth a damn
