How is it unfair? We will all be in that draft position at some point. We all have a reverse and wild card to use. Besides, we all need 5-7 crapola 200K players.
It is unfair because the talent pool won't last for 24 picks, forcing people at the end to prematurely use their speciality cards, while people at the beginning can scoop the cream and hold their specialty cards. The Yankees are a very good example, only 34 seasons. There are less of those Yankees in the database than Texas Rangers, a lot less. There are 686 Ranger pitchers and only 402 Yankee Pitchers. I understand the intent was pure, to be fair, the results are the opposite. I also understand that men of good will can disagree.
If you did not split up the franchises there would be many examples of franchises that could support 24 picks, that did not force people to use their specialty cards.
