I am certainly anti Left. I think any political faction that is threatened by the likes of Ben Shapiro has major issues.
No one is threatened by Shapiro.

he can't even reach the podium without a stepstool.

****, he still has daddy sticking up for him. Lol.
Ummm....There are quite a few on the far left who hate free speech and are scared to death of Shapiro.

As a libertarian, I want government out of my life completely. California is now requiring companies to have at least 1 woman on their board of directors by the end of 2019 and must have at least 2 by the end of 2021. Government should not be involved in companies decisions. This is major government overreach.
I agree, strikeout. Companies should be allowed to hire the people they see as the best people for whatever job they are looking to fill, regardless of race, gender or religion or sexual orientation. On the other hand, they should not be allowed to not hire a great candidate because of race, gender, religion or sexual preference.
I think private companies should have the right to not hire the best candidate. It's a stupid business practice, but we should have the right to be stupid in America without government interference.

I'm in a **** ton of Dem discussion groups. Ben Shapiro's name NEVER comes up. Ever

Why? Won't it harm the Company if they pass on a "great" candidate because of those reasons?
so, you think its okay for a company to discriminate on the basis of race, religion, gender or sexual orientation? Why am I not too surprised.
It is not okay for people to discriminate, but it is not something the government should be involved in either. A true free market will handle this issue. Especially in today's society. Boycotts happen all the time. Let the citizenry fight these battles. The more government is included in decision making, the more our liberties go out the window.

Except for Loyola Marymount and Gonzaga it seems.

https://www.dailywire.com/news/42786/another-university-trying-block-shapiro-speaking-daily-wire

so, it is okay for that baker to not sell to a same sex couple, but it is not okay for Loyola Marymount or Gonzaga to not let Ben Shapiro speak for any reason? Seems a bit hypocritical to me.

Yeah. IDC. If the Company doesn't hire the best it will suffer when compared to its competitors.

I agree. I am against affirmative action, I think it is a step but not the right way to improve equality in America.

As for the government out of life completely, well, I think that is silly.

As Jon Stewart put it, "Some people want government to be better, not for it to be gone."

Young Republicans at those institutions wanted him to speak and people are petrified. It is actually funny. Then you need to go to different groups.

Don't move the goal posts. Why is the Left petrified of Ben Shapiro?
1/29/2019 4:46 PM
I haven't read that article, but Shapiro has stated many times that private institutions have every right to ban him from speaking. Saying that, he does have the right to say, "hey, this school banned me from speaking." Can he do anything about it? No. But he most certainly can complain.
1/29/2019 4:46 PM
I'm in mixed groups also. His name NEVER comes up there either.

He's irrelevant on the nnational stage.

We all have government protections. It doesn't give the government the right to intrude on our lives. It should work the same for businesses. It's the government's job to protect.

Okay, I agree that when businesses start taking handouts from the government they have now sold their sole and relinquished their freedoms. This creates crony capitalism and is very dangerous.

You didn't answer the last question.
We all have government protections but there are times when we waive our rights in exchange for something else.

For instance, when you open a bank (or other public accommodation), you give up the right to discriminate against your customers on the basis of religion.

Open a private club or church, feel free to discriminate. Open a bank, restaurant, etc., give up that right.

This brings up another interesting point and shows why your logic is flawed. Government screws everything they touch up. That's a fact. For instance, in effort to prevent discrimination, the government actually discriminates. A good example of this is the Oregon baker.
Not 'everything.' I would argue that in many cases, the private sector is more flawed than the government, so long as the people hold government accountable.

But at least the people have some say in government.

To a point you're not wrong. But why should I be forced to hire someone I am not comfortable hiring?
