Honestly, even without that AST bump strategy, Grant Hill should be drafted more often than not.
A high-usage, low-efficiency SF with mediocre defense who doesn't contribute threes? No thanks. Good assists and defensive rebounds don't make up for that. Frankly I think you could make a better case for his 08-09 being viable in this league, and still it's a pretty fungible package.

First time in the league since 06-07ish when it was kfunk league. Probably didn't spend enough money on the main guys. But I do have a plentiful amount for a bench with some variety to make-up for some of the weaknesses. Learning experience season.
Usage EFG OREB % DREB % AST % Def
Jonas Valanciunas 17-18 Raptors C 22.7 59.0 11.1 28.3 5.5 49

Serge Ibaka 13-14 Thunder PF 19.8 54.8 9.3 18.7 4.0 92
Dan Majerle 92-93 Suns SG 17.3 54.1 4.1 8.5 11.0 80
Jason Kidd 09-10 Mavericks PG 14.6 55.4 1.8 14.8 31.8 82

just a few thoughts...

- if anyone is to blame for the slow start, its clearly me...it was my decision to delay the league so we wouldnt overlap with the ODL...then the ODL took longer then expected to start up...then i took too long to get us started back up...you can call it a mixture of laziness and draft fatigue...i still love the drafts but ive been doing them non-stop since 09 - im not always as excited to get to drafting as i was 10 years ago...i completely understand those of you upset about us not starting right away...i remember being annoyed with ncih(the previous commish) back in the day because he wasnt starting up quick enough for my liking...ill try to be more mindful of that in future seasons

- im never gonna do a clock or skips in the 1st round...for a number of reasons i think its a terrible idea and im not changing my mind on it

- i can see this thread might turn kinda ugly soon...thats fine in the commentary thread - discuss whatever you want...but DO NOT bring any of this into the actual draft thread...thats for draft picks or draft pick related posts ONLY

- midge opened my sitemail on 4/3...he has not opened the sitemail letting him know the draft has started that i sent yesterday...seeing as this is the only league he is currently in, i dont find it all that unreasonable to not check every single day considering he knows the lazy commish usually takes a few days to get things going...once he realizes we have started then he knows to check everyday...i dont think hes the only owner that thinks like this..not all of us spend time on this site everyday

- if midge hasnt made his pick by midnight i will make a selection for him like i did with redbooda last season

- ive been wanting to do a blacklist draft for awhile and it looks like ill have plenty of time to do it now...it will be my own created blacklist using the last several 52/odl drafts...i plan on starting it up sometime after this draft ends so keep an eye out for that
Thanks again for setting this up dh555. I'm fine with the delay in getting the league going. I do understand that keeping the first round clock free and skip free prevents a lot of problems. I appreciate that you took care of the midge situation in a timely manner. The black list draft is an interesting idea.
dh - i would definitely be interested. Would recommend we lower the cap slightly though
Yes, I am interested in the blackout draft. You think that the cap would be around 48 to 49 million? Also does a snake draft make the most sense or another type? Just thinking that after the top 10 picks or so the talent level could really drop off. Any thoughts on that?
4/17/2020 12:06 AM
the cap will be 50 mil

im just keeping it normal snake rules....honestly i have no idea how the talent at the end of the first round will compare to the top half...its gonna be a new experience for all of us

like just off the top of my head i know the most expensive player will probably be spencer haywood...i could see him going top 5...i dont think he and his 49% efg gives you enough of an advantage that we would need to go abba or anything...but i guess we will have to find that out as we go

I know nobody ever really thinks of me as a threat here, but I have 2 starters with 100 defense (well one of em a 99), and my other 3 starters have a 90D. I was two picks away from adding a 3rd 100 in Gerald Wallace, but just missed out. If I get my two top choices in round six, I will be adding another 90 D and an 80 D. Usage will be coming from CP3, Oladipo and Mourning, along with my two 6th round picks (crossing my fingers).

This is shaping up to be my best team yet in this league!

Mookie Blaylock 97-97 PG 21.9 52.8 4.2 10.6 21.2 13.0 83 38
Anfernee Hardaway 95-96 SG 25.5 54.9 4.9 8.1 23.9 13.5 83 37
Larry Bird 86-87 SF 27.5 55.5 4.8 18.3 20.5 12.4 76 37
Pau Gasol 10-11 PF 21.9 53.0 9.6 19.1 11.4 9.8 71 37
Bobby Jones 76-77 C/PF 18.2 57.0 7.3 19.8 12.0 14.1 100 30
Gerald Wallace 05-06 SF/SG 19.4 55.0 6.6 18.1 6.8 12.0 100 22
Oliver Miller 93-94 C 16.0 61.1 8.5 19.7 15.5 24.1 73 22

This is either one of my best or one of my worst. Once I lost Jokic I decided to just go all in using an advanced stat (not from the sim) which unfortunately resulted in me having hardly any rebounds XD. I am looking forward to this.

A lot to like there. The question is fouls, rebounding, and efficiency. Your team is basically the opposite of mine, should be interesting if they meet up.

i was liking your team a lot(wallace and ak47 at sf would have been awesome)...cp3 and zo are a great 1-2 punch to build a strong defensive team around...i won my last chip doing that

but after the clues you gave about which seasons you are using? im probably moving you up in my division draft list

yea his ast% is really the only thing that makes him special...you can find better sfs with close to 21% dreb

Good to see someone else whose team defense is almost as bad as mine

I prefer to think of it as thoroughly mediocre - but also I still have 30 minutes of guard play and 5m to work with and am thinking D&3 or even just D with the remainder at this point
