I completely agree that his lack of defensive value hurts his case. I just think his offensive value was enough to overcome it.

The folks whose opinions count apparently don't agree with you.  I think they're right.

Methinks you don't know what "irony" is.

Do I need to explain the irony of a guy whose go-to fallacy is appeal to authority, accusing someone else of an inability to think independently?

Or will you be able to piece that one together on your own?

****, you won't be able to. The BBWAA hasn't voted on it.

If you ever agree with the people in charge, you obviously appeal to authority.

It can't be possible that they're right.

Do you disagree that, in general, you want your best "hitters" to actually hit?
Well, your OPS on a walk is 1.  So I guess if your hitter has an OPS better than 1, you'd rather have him swing?  So if your guy is Babe Ruth, Ted Williams, Lou Gehrig, Barry Bonds, Jimmie Foxx, Hank Greenberg, or Rogers Hornsby, maybe you'd prefer if he didn't walk so much.

Of course, the reality is that OBP*1.7 + SLG is a much better measure of offensive value than OBP+SLG.  By that measure, even Ruth doesn't quite make it to 1.5, making 1.7 for a walk still better than swinging the bat.  For every player in Major League history.
7/27/2015 3:55 PM
Actually, that was an oversimplification.  I forgot to take Ruth's walks out before calculating his results when swinging the bat.  He's actually not all that close to 1.5.  Sorry about the oversight.
7/27/2015 3:57 PM
You oversimplification seems to suggest that every player approach each AB seeking a walk.   Correct?

BL posted that gay marriage was a good thing.

The Supreme Court cleared the way for gay marriage.

Apparently, BL's opinions on gay marriage are solely based on his appeal to the authority of SCOTUS.

I think that's how this works, right.

LOL
7/27/2015 4:25 PM
Yeah.  Kind of awkward and embarrassing when your retarded flawed arguments are used against you, I would imagine.
7/27/2015 4:55 PM
No, I'm laughing at you.

Because. You're. An. Idiot.

I didn't try to reason with your awesome SCOTUS post because

a) I assumed you'd go moy and delete it when you had to chance to read it again
b) even if you don't delete it, the stupidity is self evident, there's no need for me to do anything but laugh.
