Kobylesky Memorial League, once called the greatest HBD league in existence by one of the guys who has been in it forever, needs EIGHT new owners for Season 33. This league has been around since the early days of HBD, with a core group of owners who have never left, and for good reason. The league's owners like to wheel and deal, and the atmosphere is largely collegial. There is a 55-win requirement in every season, with 180 wins required over three years to remain in good stead.
Plenty of excellent franchises are available:
NL North (formerly Minnesota): A recent two-time World Series winner under a long-time owner has fallen on hard times in a tough division, but there is ample cap space, a well-stocked farm system, and tradeable assets for any good turnaround artist.
NL South #1 (formerly Texas): Much like Minnesota, recent struggles and a change in ownership have left this franchise with a solid farm system and only approximately $60M in payroll. Left fielder
Luther Romero is a cornerstone for any new owner.
NL South #2 (formerly Louisville): Just two years removed from a playoff appearance, Louisville is set for now on the left side of the diamond with
Keith Carver,
Kiki Lewis and
Julius Bass. Just a couple of signings could get them back to the postseason.
NL West #1 (formerly San Francisco): A roster full of talented youngsters -- with four players ranked at 80 or above under club control -- returns for the two-time defending division champion. The club has been under the same owner for 19 seasons, and is positioned for long-term success.
NL West #2 (formerly San Diego): With just five players under long-term contracts, including
Ricardo Rosado, and a well-stocked farm system at AA and High A, this franchise could return to contention soon.
AL North (formerly New York): Mismanagement in recent years has made this franchise a total rebuild, but there is just $13M in current payroll returning and a blank canvas for you to use.
AL East (formerly Boston): While Boston finished fourth in the AL East last season, just seven games separated it from the top of the division, and with two solid pitchers and the excellently-named
Buck Lee and
Hack Price in the field, it could be close to a playoff return.
AL South #1 (formerly Memphis): A one-owner franchise that made the playoffs in three of the last four years doesn't come available too often, but that's what you get here. This franchise comes with a solid roster across the board, depth at AAA and serious talent in the low minors.
AL South #2 (formerly Richmond): The roster on paper is far better than its 60-win Season 32 would suggest, with
Eduardo Lopez at the top of the rotation and
Felipe Cubillan patrolling left field.
So take a look around and join us for Season 33 (and 34 through 50, hopefully). Sitemail me for details.
