My first time drafting in this league. And I'm fairly new at drafts in general. I think I like my team so far, but It looks like I'm.gonna have quite a bit of cash left over & that scares me... I think I made a mistake in round 2 to be honest, but I still like McAdoo. In round 3, I had several targets, but the 3 I thought that actually may fall to me were selected in the 4 picks ahead of mine... just needed 1 to fall, but no luck. Similar scenario played out in round 4... I like & needed Roundfields D versatility on D & creb%, particularly oreb, but he has obvious flaws.
I am probably not the best owner to give you advice milest (don't think I have EVER had a positive evaluation by these guys--I could trade for the #2 pick and pick Wilt and Lebron and they would say "looks good on paper, but I don't see how amerk can build around these two. Too much cap used, not enough assists, lacking in 3 pt production--C-minus"). but here's what I see about your team:
LOVE CP3 with the 16th pick. I think he usually goes a few picks earlier, and I think he gives you the best overall #'s of any PG in the draft. Great defensively. You need a low post scorer for Paul to feed and you got Big Mac. Being from just down the thruway from Buffalo, I love McAdoo more than most. The way the draft played out, he is a very good pick at that point. Sure, he's expensive, but low post scorers who can also rebound and play serviceable D are mostly gone by then. Maybe you coulda waited and seen if Ewing was available to you in the 3rd (he wouldn't have been) but its not worth the risk if you like McAdoo. Mourning woulda been cheaper, but Mac will do better.
Mason in the 3rd...I'm not as big a fan of personally. I know he gives you a lil of everything for a decent price but like guys like Ho Grant and Noah, always leave me wanting more from them. If you put him at the "3", you get zero three point shooting. If you put him at the "4", he's not that great a rebounder. I would have preferred Nance, Stoudamire, Marques Johnson or Gerald Wallce there, but thats just me perhaps. Finally, yeah Roundfield can be a beast, but I think most "experts" think his TO's and fouls per minute are just too high and not worth the trade-off. There are plenty of "2"s out there for you to round out your starters. You have to choose if you go threes and offense or heavier on D
Either way, glad to have you and don't let these knuckleheads (including me lol) get you down if they are overly critical. They think I'm a moron, but I've made the final 8 three years in a row in this league. I think you'll be fine. Good luck!
