Yankees pick up their second win of the season, crushing the BloSux 14-4 on the ESPN Sunday Night game of the week. They used up almost all of their remaining allotment of hits and runs for the month of April in one night.
They crushed Clay Buchholz with 7 runs in the bottom of the first. Big hit of the inning was ARod's bases loaded double.
Every Yankee starter picks up at least one hit. Tanaka picks up the win to even his record at 1-1, but is unimpressive in five innings of work. The bullpen (Carpenter and Davies) contribute four scoreless innings to close out the game.
It's early still, but Yankee starting pitchers are only averaging around 5.1 IP per start. That's going to kill the bullpen over the long term if the starters can't go a little deeper.
Next up is a 10 game road trip, starting with a 3 game series against the O's starting tonight.
