Ford World - Full Topic

If you're getting a bit bored of the same old HBD world setup, and have a craving for something different, Ford world might be the one for you.

Here are our very unique private world rules:

1. Each team may not have any more than 20 players on their 40 man roster by the rule 5 draft roster freeze.

2. 40 man rosters shall be trimmed to 20 by means of release, designate for assignment with waivers, or trade.

3. Each team is limited to 3 awarded pre rule 5 waiver claims.

4. Use of designate for assignment without waivers is banned until after the rule 5 draft day.

5. Use of the 60 day DL is not allowed until after the rule 5 draft. Any player placed on the 60 day DL before the rule 5 draft shall be waived upon removal.

6. Upon signing, being awarded a waiver claim, or acquiring by trade a player with a contract with more than one season remaining, owners must assign them to their ML roster before the rule 5 roster freeze.

7. If a franchise has more than 20 players on it's 40 man roster by rule 5 roster freeze day, said franchise must place on waivers the same number of players that it is over the limit by, starting with the highest rated player, by overall rating.

8. If a player with more than one season remaining on his contract is left unassigned by the rule 5 roster freeze, said player must be placed on waivers.

9.  All roster restrictions are lifted at the start of the Rule 5 roster freeze, being the AM1 cycle, at approximately 3:05 AM EST rule 5 day.

10. The owner of any franchise that fails to attain 60 wins in one season, 125 wins in two consecutive seasons, 195 wins in three consecutive seasons, or 270 wins in four consecutive seasons shall not be allowed to return the following season. This rule does not apply to an owner who took over a team mid season, for the season that the replacement took place in.

11. Each owner is responsible to keep their franchise's minor leagues adequately stocked and free of excessive fatigue.

12. Any violation of these rules will result in the offending owner not being allowed to return the following season.

Monitoring and enforcement of the rules shall be performed by the commissioner. All owners are free to monitor and report infractions to the commissioner.

Coaches, the Ford rules may appear to be complicated but in reality they are very simple.  Everyone has to get to a 20 man protected roster every season.  That allows the bottom teams an opportunity to pick up decent players and be competitive quickly.  That is what Ford is all about.  Competitive balance within the league.

Let's take a look at the five four three only remaining team in some detail
.

Florida only has $36.3M committed in large contracts for the upcoming season.  Of the five franchises, this is the one that will a seasoned vet.   Pitcher  Mario Battle will be a no-brainer resign.  At $1.1M he is a bargain.  Young Albie Aguilera  had a great first year in the Bigs and will only get better.  Matty Rios is young and improving every season.  He should be a solid contributor again this season.  This is a team that was built with an eye to the future.  19 year old Diego Garces and Jesus Chavez had solid Rookie campaigns.  They will probably be fast tracked to the Bigs in the coming seasons.  This is a team that needs to be active in Free Agency.  The good news is that they will have $$$ to do so.

Why should you take them ?  Like NY, the key selling point is your payroll flexibility.  If you like signing players in Free Agency, you will have the flexibility to completely remake the roster.  You should have ample $$$ to make an impact in the IFA market.  You need to be committed to doing a 2-3 year rebuild but with Ford's rules it is easily possible.

Like Sho said in his post, if you are looking for a unique approach to HBD this may be for you.  The rules are designed to ensure parity and a highly competitive experience. Post your interest below to get a password or contact Shobob directly via sitemail.

We've been sitting on 4 openings for awhile now. This really is a unique concept, and should balance out the strength among all 32 teams quicker and more efficiently. We worked out the bugs in the first season of this format, and are ready to take this to Broadway. Let's get this world filled before the new changes take affect, so we can monitor how other worlds are adjusting. Cougdawg did an excellent job summarizing the open teams. Sitemail me if you have any questions.
