I took over a team last year and what I really like about this league is it is only in its early seasons. Even if you take over one of the loosing teams you don't have 20 some seasons of mistakes to overcome.

Ok, I understand.  You look at the team in the AL South (Austin) and think "wow..not a bad team..."  Then you look and see how Atlanta has won the division title every year and you worry you wont have a chance.

Well, you wont.  But there are 4 other teams you could choose instead. 

(yes, I am the Atlanta owner.  Yes, this post is total sarcasm.  Come join the league.  Take Austin.  Kick my a**, I'll thank you)
