I came up with an idea that maybe I will try for the next NDL....if you are skipped more than one time (everyone would get one F up), you would be forced to draft Skip Butler as a punishment.  A skip would be missing one's draft slot time, and not sending a proxy pick, or being able to have a time stamped "receipt" from your sent file to show for it.

What do you think?  I need something to encourage everyone to make their draft times.  Any other/better ideas will be considered as well.

I don't like it. Getting skipped is punishment enough. You don't pick in time you risk not getting the player you want.

I got skipped twice this week because I got suddenly very ill. it could not have been helped.

What infuriates me is someone going several days without picking at the end of the draft holding up the works for everybody. in that case, it could have been helped.

one idea is to have fewer picks per day, say 6, with 1 round taking 4 days. Each owner will have more time to evaluate, come up with a proxy, etc. yes, the draft will take longer but it would still be faster than many leagues at this site.

doesn't have to be 6 a day..could be 8. just throwing out a number.

Skips are midly annoying, but once we're on the clock, not devstating. I think 16 picks a day, once an hour from 8am to midnight, would work. Eight rounds in 12 days.

I don't think that helps genco.  I am in many basketball drafts where they pick hourly, and get in half a round a day.  You still get just as many skips, AND the draft drags on twice as long.  I don't want to have a football league where the draft takes longer than the actual season.  I think part of the problem may be choosing who gets a 2nd team.  Some owners, like grayfoxx, roadhouse, etc can handle it.  Some owners might be biting off too much having a 2nd team.  Gotta make sure those who take a 2nd team show a history of knowing how to use proxy picks to avoid skips.

Just throwing out ideas.

As far as competitive balance is concerned, I personally think missing a pick in a round is overrated.

What you give up in ratings, you get back with cap space.
