Has there ever been any thought to align the divisions by winning pct?  It may give teams like the Rays and Diamondbacks more of a chance if they were competing directly with each other.  Just a thought.

I brought this up years ago.  

The Rays are never going to have a chance as long as the cap sits at 120m anyway, unless they get some truly elite player performances IRL. Changing divisional alignment isn't going to help them, and they're the one team that really needs help.

Agreed.  I guess there's a chance they could squeak into a playoff berth playing against AZ, DET, etc., but they would still need some serious help in the draft to make that happen IMHO.

I don't see why you'd want to bring a worse team into the playoffs just for the sake of it. some teams are slightly worse than others. (and one team is The Rays), and that's just the way of Rule V. It's part of the fun to me that I get the challenge sometimes of taking, say, the Rockies and trying to fight with the Dodgers.

Feel like the Rockies making it to the World Series just a few legs ago would've quelled this kind of discussion, no?

A very sad day here for Rays fans as Joe Maddon opted out of his contract to likely be the next manager (in waiting perhaps) of the LA Dodgers. The rich get richer and the poor fade away.
