Best value draft pick you've had? Topic

My world just had the amateur draft and although I don't have any great steals, there were a few picks throughout the draft from various teams that I felt were great value. Which got me curious and now I wanna know: what's the best value pick you guys have had/seen? DitR doesn't count :)

And I don't mean #1 overall MVP types, although they would fall under the "great value" category, I'm looking more for 4th or 5th (or later) picks that got passed up for some reason.

Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Casey Terry  42nd pick.   Could have produced a lot more but that was before I learned not to waste BL-ready players in the minors for more "development".

Are you looking for guys who were great players drafted beyond the 4th or 5th pick (first round), or beyond the 4th or 5th round?

The original post says pick, which would include all middle to late first rounders and beyond.  There's going to be tons of those guys.

His projections say he's going to be a poor C/RF/DH.    I'm not sure he's even going to have a BL career.     "Great value"?  No.

Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Shayne Frank was picked at 199 and got over 1600 AB.    I don't think your guy gets nearly that many BL AB.

Whelp Mike's opinion has to pop in and bring down the mood, imagine that.

Just stating the facts.   He might be a call-up guy that disappears when he's out of options.

The best example, for the guidelines you laid out and then expanded on, is Scott.    Good enough behind the plate to deserve a spot and he could hit lefties.   That's a nice little career for a 178th pick.

Maybe a better question to pose would be how many picks drafted out of the first five rounds have ever made an impact? I don't recall ever seeing any.

Frank was a 6th rounder with a .796 OPS in 1600+ AB.   If he could have played somewhere other than 1B, he'd have had a longer career.
