Neither Washington team has made it to the World Series. Think the Nationals are a tad closer than the Mariners!

Not with Rizzo and Williams running the show.

Every year it seems the experts Pick the Nats to steam roll to victory. I just never thought this team had what it takes to win, especially in the playoffs. How many more years do they control Harper...cuz he is gone once he's a free agent. The Yankees ought to sign him...but I don't like contracts over 4-5 years these days.

They need a real manager. They had some spirit under Davey, but he was an older guy. They need a younger manager who's not afraid to kick guys in the ***, but also knows how to manage a baseball team (unlike Williams)

Williams likely is fired once the season ends. This team needs to make a few trades and shake up that roster too. It just doesn't have the right combination of players.

Strasberg being shut down for the 2012 playoffs.  I'm sure no one in the organization is regretting that decision.

I'd love to see Harper join the Yankees. When is this guy eligible for free agency?

This post has a rating of , which is below the default threshold.
In my estimation and I could be wrong, Harper will be a free agent after the 2017 season. He has been in the majors since 2012 so this is his fourth year...a team controls their players for 6 years. So 6 years of control for the Nats will end after the 2017 season. I don't think the Yankees will be big players in the free agent market in the near future, but they will go hard after Harper. This guy is capable of hitting 60 HRs playing for them.

2019 is his first FA year.

Harper's contract is a unique situation. He signed a 5 year major league deal when he was drafted in 2010 and then signed a 2 year extension in 2014 (for the 15 and 16 seasons) but he is still under team control through the 2018 season.  He is arbitration eligible 2017 & 2018.
