Former Durham Franchise (68-94, 3rd place in the AL East) If you want to start from scratch building a team, this is the perfect franchise for you. There's only a little over twenty-six million dollars tied up in payroll, with only two potential arbitration eligible players. Young starter Derrick West is probably the best player on a team in need of some more talent, but you'd have plenty of cash to sign free agents or play in the International FA market. This club selects 8th in the draft.
Former Florida Franchise (78-84, 2nd place in the AL South): Smooth swinging DH Yeico Franco and slugging C Mateo Ordonez paired SP Quilvio Manuel to put together enough wins to manage a decent season last year. The key offseason question in Florida will be do you add more pieces around what's there to try to make a playoff push, or sell off assets to rebuild? They own the 16th pick in the draft.
Former Nashville Franchise (76-86, 4th place in the NL South): With only a little over 16 million dollars in salary committed to the books for S30, this club is in great shape for the future. Young fire-baller Gerald Pecina locks down the back end of the bullpen and Yuniesky Castro also has done a good job in relief. The offensive side is a little thin, though. They pick 14th in the draft.
