this is a modern edition of joik (yoik) the oldest form of tribal music on the planet. this young lady is Saami, the indiginous people of northern europe (norway, sweden, finland & northern russia). The Anthro folks say we've been there in this culture for 10,000 years, they've check the dna and were not europian, mogolian or sino. It appears our dna has seen very little variation in the last 10k years while the rest of the earth has seen considerable. (suk's to be you). To say the least they're a little puzzled. This girl could be my daughters twin. the idea of a joik isn't to tell a story but to capture the spirt of the story in your voice. btw - we're shaman. The "Lord of the Rings" movies used Saami music for the elves, mainly becuz the elves represent the saami in Tolkiens story.
