Deadline for Submission: Monday, July 14th by 5pm EST
TEAM SIZE: 3 players (will be posted by Csudak)
CUT LINE: 4 teams: The bottom 4 teams will each have a player enter the elimination challenge. The first place team will vote for 1 player from the 2nd OR 3rd place team to also enter the elimination challenge.
Part 1: Homerun Derby
Pick TWO of the HR Derby participants below. Each player has a point value assigned, based on the current odds. If your player wins the derby, you will receive that amount of points. If your player is the runner-up, you will receive half of that player’s points.
Giancarlo Stanton - 10
Jose Bautista - 18
Yasiel Puig - 18
Yoenis Cespedes - 18
Troy Tulowitzki - 22
Josh Donaldson - 30
Todd Frazier - 40
Adam Jones - 50
Brian Dozier - 50
Justin Morneau - 50
Part 2: All-Star Game
1. Pick the winning team: American or National (15 points if correct)
2. Pick the team that scores the first run: American or National (5 points)
3. Predict the total amount of runs scored for both teams combined (15 points if perfect, 10 points if off by 1 run, 5 points if off by 2 runs)
All-Star Game Catagories:
You will choose SIX of the following categories, and then 1 player from the American or National team for each category chosen. YOU MAY NOT USE THE SAME PLAYER FOR MULTIPLE CATEGORIES. If the player you chose for a category earns a stat in that category, then you receive the point value. If the player earns that stat twice, then you receive 2x the point value, and so on.
The categories are as follows:
Pitcher Categories:
Innings Pitched (4x amount of IP with decimals)
Strikeouts (4x amount of K's)
Walk (8x amount of walks)
Win (30 pts)
Save (30 pts)
Hitter categories:
At bat (2x amount of at bats)
Any hit (8x amounts of hits)
Walk (12x amount of walks)
Strikeout (8x amount of strikeout)
Run Batted In (12x amount of RBIs)
Run Scored (15x amount of runs scored)
Ground Into Double Play (15x amount of GIDP)
2 Hit game (30 points)
Stolen Base (20x amount of stolen bases)
Double (20x amount of doubles)
Home Run (40x amount of home runs)
Triple (40x amount of triples)
Fielder Categories:
Error committed (25x number of errors committed)
Involved in a double play (8x number of DPs)
Miscellaneous:
Wins Most Valuable Player (40 points)
Benchwarmer – Does Not Play in Game – Cannot be an injured player whose roster spot was replaced (15 points)
So for instance, if you pick Miguel Cabrera as your player for the "Home Run" category…and Cabrera goes 4 for 4 with no home runs... you get 0 points out of that category. If you picked Cabrera for the any hit category and he went 4 for 4 with two doubles you would have gotten 32 points…and had you put him in the double category you would have gotten 40. Note: You can only use Miguel Cabrera once.
TB1: Total combined hits for both teams in All-Star game
TB2: Order of submission
*POWER PLAY: There are 2 secret MLB players for this challenge. If one (or both) of these players are chosen by your team, you will receive double the amount of points for their respective category. Clues to the identity of the secret players will be sent to survivors of the previous elimination challenge. (Note: You DO NOT have to guess the player on the forum....just include the player in your team's sitemail entry)
