I remember starting under a different user name in GD1.0. I played two seasons with little success and then dublinuf, mojolad, and two other great coaches took teams in my conference and they blew right past me. I watched what they were doing and asked a few questions, but still sucked. i was great to have almost all full conferences. When conferences are full someone wins and someone loses. So the problem is trying to figure out how to get those who lose to not quit. If coaches in DIII move up the problem just perpetuates itself because DII will have established coaches making it impossible for those who move up to win easily. DIII will likely retain most of the coaches who win and new players will have the same problem all over again. Maybe that gets WIS enough of a population boost to be happy.

Dang Im totally against dumbing d-3 down. Ive built up my program from nothing. Its hard to just leave. I guess it wouldn't be so bad if we had more notice. We need time to get with conference mates to decide together whether or not to make the move up.

I have not made it to D1A yet, but thus far, I think I had the most fun at D2.  I'm emotionally attached to my D3 team (as many are for various reasons).

I agree, harris. I like D2 so much better than D3. I also like D1AA, and am planning to move up to D1A in Yost after the current season ends.. But D2 is pretty damn good.

I can sympathize with those who have reasons for wanting to stay at their D3 schools. This is a drastic change for D3, but change does happen. The good thing is, with this change there are options to choose from. It's not like WIS just pulled the plug on the whole damn thing and took our money. It would be honorable of them, though, to offer current D3 owners an incentive package for moving up to D2 if they so choose.

I'll keep playing but can we simply refer to the divisions as D-IA, D-IAA, D-II and D-Socialism?
They have always been:
D1A - The competitive imbalance league where certain schools (14 Elites such as the fine fine Nebraska program) have hard-wired advantages over the people they compete with in Division with no playoffs

D1AA - The league where your top recruits likely will end up signing as backup plans at DIA

DII - The most balanced division via money per scholarship, playoffs and competitive balance, that no one ever plays at

DIII - The most populated division where veteran coaches stay for rivalries and let's face it because it is the easiest to succeed at once you get ahead.

If the Veteran coaches all move to DII, then DII would be the most filled level, and it would be the most fun if you like playoffs. (If you prefer Bowls DIA is still the best, and it obviously features the best competition) It's never going to happen, though. People will not fill DII ever.

Of course, back in version 1.0, DIII was always filled to capacity.
This is absolutely correct, but moving up is exactly the money fall that they want. No matter what team you take over youre gonna want to have 2-3 recruiting classes to be happy with your team.
Money or reward pts its still a waste/annoying to start over.
