No.  It's not OK to shutdown the government over gun control.  Likewise, it's also not OK to shutdown the government over Obamacare.
If it's not ok to shut down the government over Obamacare, how is anyone but the house GOP at fault here?
The House passed a bill that would have kept the government open.  The Senate Democrats voted it down, effectively shutting down the government.  Over Obamacare.

How can you say they had no part in the shutdown?  They had an opportunity to avoid a shutdown.  They chose Obamacare over keeping the government open.

Do you really not understand that?
You're joking, right?

Senate voted down the house bill because it would defund Obamacare. Something Democrats can't do. Just like the GOP wouldn't be able to vote a CR in with a huge tax increase. The party that puts the poison pill in the bill is the one that deserves the blame when the bill gets voted down.

If there were popular support for such a tax rate, as there is for the defunding of Obamacare, then yes, they would be at fault for refusing to negotiate.

From the same article:

89% of all those polled believe that the Republicans have at least a little blame for the shutdown.
83% of all those polled believe that the Democrats have at least a little blame for the shutdown.
74% of all those polled believe that Obama has at least a little blame for the shutdown.

See?  There's a lot of blame to go around.  Not all on the GOP.

Also, 57% of all those polled believe that Obamacare will make health care more expensive.  Is that he goal of the ACA?
You've said it over and over again, people are dumb.

Just because X% of people think someone should get some blame doesn't mean that someone is actually at fault. And just because X% of people think obamacare makes health care more expensive doesn't mean obamacare actually makes health care more expensive.

You're the kind of mindless sheep that the political spin masters love to manipulate with their rhetoric.

"It's entirely the other sides fault".

Well done.  That's the kind of misguided blind "loyalty" that has gotten the country into the mess it's in.

Try opening your eyes and your mind for a change.

For the benefit of someone who considers the President and Senate Democrats to be inflexible, someone whose opinions are maybe not as well reasoned as he would like to believe them to be:

Negotiation:   Not "I can't do anything you want.   My way only."

Turns out that mentality is really hurting the GOP in this.
This post has a rating of , which is below the default threshold.

Not a ton. So what? That's the benefit of controlling all three branches.
10/4/2013 10:22 AM
Would you feel the same way if it were a Republican-controlled House, Senate and White House passing a bill without any Democratic input?
10/4/2013 10:23 AM
Shoved down the throat? It took 14 months of negotiations.
10/4/2013 10:27 AM
Republicans had tons of input....almost the entire law was based on GOP ideas, including the individual mandate.

Yeah, the GOP is the only one at fault for the govt shutdown.    I forgot.  My bad.
10/4/2013 10:34 AM
If it was so highly negotiated, with tons of GOP input, then why is the GOP against it so strongly?
10/4/2013 10:36 AM
They just want to shut down the government.   Duhh.
