I don't agree with the call, but its at least defensible. Manning had already turned the ball over twice, he gets worse the colder the weather gets, the team was making all kinds of mistakes, etc. Take the knee, let them regroup. Under old OT rules, Fox probably goes for it. But his team was all but guaranteed a possession in OT. And they ended up getting several, and did nothing with them. If Manning drives them down the field for a game-winning TD in OT, no one is talking about this today.
He is not gaurenteed to get a possesion. If the Ravens score a TD first possesion its over.

based on the D the Ravens were presenting, he switched to the play he was supposed to......the Ravens stopped it, he looks bad

if the run goes for 8 yards, the announcers slobber over his ability to audible

everything is results based...they lost, so Manning must have once again proved he isn't a good playoff QB....no matter what else happened in the game
It's hard to get a run for 7 yards.  I would have to go back and look at the D alignment, but I didn't get the impression they were in a formation where it would be relatively easy to run for 7 yards.

If you think you're one of the best QBs in football, complete a 7 yard pass and get ready to host New England.

Fox made two coaching mistakes that were HUGE and cost the team the game.

1. With one first down, Denver ices the game. Sure, it's 3rd and 7 or 8, but you don't run the ball there when you have Manning as your QB. You went out to get him to make plays to win games - call your best medium distance pass play and let him put the ball on the receiver's hands to get the first down and win the game.

2. With 31 seconds left and two time outs, you can work the middle of the field. You only need a field goal, and again, you have Manning as your QB. You do not kneel on it.

What is really funny is the Falcons are behind by one the next day and Matt Ryan manages to use his two timeouts and 34 seconds to get his team into position for the win, but Fox thought a sure fire HOF QB couldn't get it done for Denver? Absurd.

Manning is easily the best QB of his era in terms of making plays no one else can make. What Fox did was to make Denver's decision to get Manning a moot point. He handicapped his team in a way that almost makes me question if he wasn't paid off.

In reality, this game is on Rahim Moore.  Turn your shoulders and run after the football rather than backpedal 20 yards and you knock that ball away, or maybe intercept it.

Easily the best? I think that's debatable....hell even his brother might have him there.

apparently you didn't read the last few posts before yours because #1 is wrong.  Denver called a pass play, Manning audibled into a run.  Not sure why that is now Fox's mistake (who happens to btw not call the plays for Denver).

Your whole post just got tossed out the window when you wrote

"Manning is easily the best QB of his era"

Please.  Brady is ahead of him.  Not because i'm a Pats homer....but because Brady has done far more with far less.  Yes, Manning is one of the best ever....but only 2nd in his era (will probably be 3rd if Rodgers continues).

An argument could be made for either.   I think Brady's had a coach who understands how to create mismatches with his personnel.   Manning's had a coach who said "Here.   Go score some points."

Does anyone on this site bother to read before they post? "His team was all but guaranteed"...meaning it's not guaranteed, but pretty damn likely they'd get one.

Time to fire whoever coaches this secondary
Called that one

The DB coach wears a uni?   Fox got a pass from you but the secondary coach doesn't?

Do you think he said "Don't worry about letting the WR behind you, they'll never throw it deep"?

That 70 yard play at the end of the game, Denver actually called the correct defense, the players just didn't execute it right at all.  Much of the rest of the game, they didn't call the right plays and they barely blitzed, which is what they needed to do.
