EDITED - We just rolled and we have 1 opening:
Oakland Moneyballers - (AL WEST) This squad has been down the rebuild road the last few seasons, which was a sound strategy given the strength of the other three teams in the division. This was the 4th straight sub-.500 season, though all were between 68-79 wins, so there was no bottoming out here. You'd be looking at a top-10 pick (7th or 8th by my count, again due to ties), and there's some good talent in the farm system.
Wichita Jaw Rockers
- (AL NORTH) This team split the season right down the middle and finished with 81 wins. They've hovered right around .500 for the last few seasons, with 81, 81, and 76 wins. The payroll is high and there is some legit talent so the incoming owner will either have the option of adding some pieces and making a run or moving some of those guys for prospects.
Durham Bulls - (NL SOUTH) Coming off a 59-win campaign, this team will pick 2nd in the draft. They are the lone NL opening that we have. Last season was the 10th consecutive losing season for this franchise, spanning a few different owners. So the franchise is in dire need of a steady rebuilding hand to come in right the ship. Due to the recent down seasons, there's some talent in the system including the 1st overall pick from a few seasons ago. If you're looking to come in and turn around a losing team, this one is for you.
As for league rules, we have one anti-tanking measure in place - 120 wins over two seasons. If a team fails to hit that mark, a vote is taken for a third season return.
