"Most of the founding fathers were basically agnostic"

Could you be a little more vague?  Like throw a "probably" or "somewhat" in there?

The committee responsible for writing the Constitution:

James Madison - nominally deist, but apparently had very little interest in religion or spirituality
Thomas Jefferson - deist, but faithful, and approved of Christianity
John Adams - a lot of deist beliefs, but remained a practicing Christian with faith in a Christian God and probably trinity
John Dickinson - Christian (Quaker)
Gouverneur Morris (chair) - deist
Thomas Paine - deist, and vocally and in written documents expressly opposed to Christianity
James Wilson - Christian (Presbyternian)
George Wythe - Christian (Episcopalian, Quaker background)
Edmund Randolph - nominally Episcopalian, but with Deist leanings
Roger Sherman - devout Congregationalist

So of the 10 writers, 4 were truly Christian to the extent that it would seem likely to influence their sociopolitical beliefs.  Of the 4, Sherman was far most significant in terms of his role in actually writing the Constitution.  While Morris probably wrote the preamble, Sherman and Adams are thought to form the next tier after Madison in terms of writing the actual document.  Dickinson was also important.  Wilson and Wythe were involved in the structure of parts of Articles 3 - 6, as both were experts on jurisprudence.

It is worth pointing out that Paine, the only member of the committee who openly disapproved of Christianity and organized religion in general, had very little voice in the actual writing process.

Regardless of the religions of the founding fathers, they were clear in their intent for a secular government.

Very good.  And Deism covers a broad range from those who believe in a creator to those, like Paine, who opposed the Church.  Most believed in prayer but questioned tenets like the trinity or the personal intervention of God in everyday life and therefore I doubt any of them experienced a personal transformation.  Baptized into the faith as children.  Rationalizing their tradition in their adult lives.  All the time adhereing to the broader tenets of liberty and justice.

And we are a secular Nation as regards our Constitution and law. Freedom of Religion. Speech. Private property.  The Press.  Justice in law and the courts.

And so I wonder.  The last two Presidents.  Was one a Christian?  Is one a deist?  Are/were they something other and what would the founding fathers think of their performance.  How would they view the Judicial arm and the actions of Congress today?  What would they think of the Fed and Wall Street?  I would love to hear one of them give that speech on the floor.

The "last two?" You mean Obama and W? They are both Christian. But how we evaluate their performance as Presidents has nothing to do with their religion.

This is interesting.  Whereas Jefferson was, on some level, a deist who refused the muslim demand and in return attacked and defeated them, our 2 "Christian" Presidents, as you have defined them, have acted quite differently.  One attacked and the other has deferred, apologized, retreated, given up, pulled out and claimed victory. One of them was successful and the other is failing.

Jefferson told us never to get involved with the muslin culture.  That was before flight.  Of the 2 Christians, as you define them, one was a success and the other is an abject failure.  IF they are both Christians then you are exactly right.  How we evaluate their performance has nothing to do with religion.  Therefore religion should never factor into any future election.

I am glad to hear this knowing now you will never, in the future,  apply Christian to a candidate in a demeaning way.  CONGRATS!
