May 9,1969 N.Y. Mets teammates Ken Boswell, Tom Seaver and Donn Clendenon celebrating in the home clubhouse at Shea Stadium after the second-place Mets beat the first-place Chicago Cubs, 7-1, to move to within 1/2 game of first place in the NL Eastern Division!

Seaver, the 24-year-old Mets pitching ace in his third season, was well on his way to a 25-7 season for the eventual World Champion "Miracle Mets". He had beaten the Cubs the previous day, 3-2. Seaver was named the NL Cy Young Award winner for his stellar season, which included a 2.21 ERA and 208 strikeouts.

Boswell, 23, was the team's main starting second baseman in only his third season. He batted .279 in 102 games.
