My name is Chris. I'm a 33 year old real estate appraiser living in Lincolnton, NC.

How did you find out about WhatIfSports.com and our SimLeague games?

After playing the dynasty modes in some video games, I decided to search on the internet for simulation sports websites. I looked at several different sites and liked WIS the best.

Besides simulation sports websites, what are some of your other interests and hobbies?

I play poker, various musical instruments (guitar, bass, drums, keyboard), golf, video games, chess, checkers, other card games, etc.

WIS

It looks like you have been pretty active in all of our SimLeagues. Which game is your favorite? What interests you in each of these games?

Although I've enjoyed all the games that I've played on this site, the NBA and MLB games are my favorites. I enjoy the challenge of trying to put together the best team possible as each game changes the sim engine and salary structure.

Who are your favorite basketball players of all-time?

Some of my favorite basketball players are Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Julius Erving and Bill Russell.

What are your favorite teams of all time?

Some of my favorite teams are the 1986 Boston Celtics, 1992 Duke Blue Devils, 1995 Atlanta Braves, 2003 Carolina Panthers, 2004 Boston Red Sox and 2006 Carolina Hurricanes.

Did you play any sports growing up?

I played basketball and baseball as a kid. In high school I wrestled, played football and ran track.

Talk about your greatest WIS moment.

My top 2 moments were completing the WIS "Grand Slam" (winning a title in the NBA, MLB, NFL, and NHL games) and winning the most recent BOWIS.

Before we get into the BOWIS experience a little bit more tell us more about the "Grand Slam?" Was it a goal of yours? Or something you just kind of did by accident?

1st NBA title was in 2007. I had a regular and TOC MLB title by 2008, 1st NFL title came in 2008, and I won an NHL title in 2009. Winning a title in all 4 sports became a goal in 2008.

That is quite the accomplishment and quite the honor. Now, tell us about your experience with BOWIS (Best of WhatIfSports).

That was my first tournament at WIS and it was ran very well. I put a lot of time into drafting my teams and was very happy to win the title against a strong field. I look forward to participating in the next BOWIS.

What did you think of the different theme concepts?

I thought it was a very good mix of different salary caps and restrictions.

What advice can you give to new WhatIfSports.com users who want to have fun and get the most out of the site?

ncmusician_7

Read the forums, ask people for advice and play at least one exhibition league before playing in a full season league.

Are there any players in specific that you feel consistently under or overachieve?

ncmusician_7

High volume, efficient scorers who don't have a high defensive rating are good values in leagues where the cap is $42M or less under the current sim engine. Players who had a high FTA to FGA ratio in real life will usually have a much lower ratio in the sim.

How do you go about setting your depth chart and allocating minutes?

I like to have at least 2 high volume scorers and a high volume rebounder on the court at all times. During the regular season, I try to keep all my non-scrub players above 95% fatigue. During the playoffs, I want my best players to play more mpg than they did during the regular season.

How much emphasis do you put on scouting future opponents and double-teaming?

During the playoffs, I'll look at my opponent's lineup to see if I can exploit a defensive weakness. I rarely double team.

What is your favorite aspect of SimLeague basketball?

ncmusician_7

I like being able to win leagues by using a variety of different strategies and some of my favorite players, analyzing the stats and trying to figure out the sim engine, and the discussions I have with the other people on this site .

What is your least favorite aspect of SimLeague basketball?

ncmusician_7

I would like to see updates more frequently. I would also like the option to have variable league sizes (such as a 16 team league).
